Psalm 39:9-13

New International Version

⁹ I was silent;^(A) I would not open my mouth,^(B)
    for you are the one who has done this.^(C)
10 Remove your scourge from me;
    I am overcome by the blow^(D) of your hand.^(E)
11 When you rebuke^(F) and discipline^(G) anyone for their sin,
    you consume^(H) their wealth like a moth^(I)—
    surely everyone is but a breath.^(J)

¹² “Hear my prayer, Lord,
    listen to my cry for help;^(K)
    do not be deaf^(L) to my weeping.^(M)
I dwell with you as a foreigner,^(N)
    a stranger,^(O) as all my ancestors were.^(P)
13 Look away from me, that I may enjoy life again
    before I depart and am no more.”^(Q)
